The nearly $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot finally has winners. After weeks of rollovers, tickets sold in Texas and Missouri matched the winning numbers in Saturday night’s draw, the Multi-State Lottery Association announced.
The record-breaking prize totalled $1.787 billion, making it the second-largest jackpot in Powerball history. The only bigger win was the $2.04 billion jackpot claimed in California back in November 2022.
The lucky numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, and the Powerball 17. Players in both states will split the jackpot, with each ticket worth an annuitized $893.5 million or a lump sum of $410.3 million before taxes. The annuity option would be paid in 30 installments over 29 years.
The identities of the winners and exact ticket locations have not been revealed yet.
Saturday’s drawing also delivered other big prizes. Tickets worth $2 million were sold in Kansas and Texas, while 18 players across 13 states won $1 million each.
The jackpot had been building since May 31, rolling over 42 straight times without a winner. The odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
Power ball tickets cost $2 and are sold in 45 states, plus Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
With Saturday’s win, the jackpot resets to $20 million for Monday’s drawing.
