When’s the Next Drawing?
The next Powerball drawing is set for Monday, Sept. 1, just after 11 p.m. ET.
How Powerball Works
Tickets cost $2 and are sold at gas stations, convenience stores, grocery stores, and in some states online. Players pick six numbers: five white balls ranging from 1 to 69 and one red Powerball between 1 and 26.
For an extra $1, players can add the “Power Play” option, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by as much as 10 times. If you don’t feel like choosing your own numbers, you can select a “Quick Pick” and let the computer generate them.
To win the jackpot, a player must match all five white balls in any order plus the red Powerball. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday night. If no one wins, the prize rolls over and keeps growing.
Buying Tickets
Tickets are available at most convenience stores, gas stations, and grocery stores. Some airports sell them too.
Players in certain states and territories, including New York, New Jersey, Oregon, Colorado, and Washington D.C., can also order tickets through Jackpocket, a lottery courier app. The app allows users to pick numbers, view tickets, and collect winnings directly on their phones or computers.
