Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce just got engaged, and while fans are still freaking out over the news, the internet has zeroed in on one detail: that giant rock on her finger.
The couple shared the announcement on Instagram, and the close-up of Swift’s hand showed off a massive diamond set in yellow gold. News confirmed Kelce picked out the ring from Artifex Fine Jewelry, an online shop known for using natural stones.
Jewelry experts wasted no time breaking it down. Stephanie Gottlieb, a celebrity jeweler, says the diamond looks like an old mine brilliant cut (basically an antique version of the cushion cut) and estimates it’s around 8 to 10 carats. Another expert, Lauren B. Shmueli, thinks it’s closer to 7 or 8 carats with high clarity.
it’s very big, very sparkly, and very expensive. A natural diamond that size could easily cost between $400,000 and $800,000.
But not everyone thinks it’s quite that huge. The Clear Cut, a New York jewelry brand, called it a “spready stone” in a TikTok, meaning the cut makes it look bigger than it really is. Their guess? Somewhere between 4 and 7 carats.
Whatever the carat count, what makes the ring stand out is its vintage vibe. Experts say the stone has a slightly warmer tone, which is common in antique diamonds, and gives it extra character. The cushion cut also has curved edges and a checkerboard-like sparkle pattern, making it unique compared to the sharper, modern cuts you usually see.
The elongated shape is also a perfect match for Swift’s long fingers, according to jewelers.
Then there’s the setting. It’s a yellow gold tapered band with fine engraving, plus burnished side stones that could have a personal meaning for Swift and Kelce.
Artifex, the jeweler Kelce bought from, was even promoting a “from the vault…” collection on its site this week a phrase Swifties immediately connected to her “Taylor’s Version” re-releases.
Bottom line: the ring is rare, romantic, and impossible to miss. And fans are already calling it the ultimate Swiftie-approved sparkle.
