Donald Trump has named his former counsel, Lindsey Halligan, as the coming US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, while prompting Attorney General Pam Bondi to take tougher action against his political adversaries.
“ Pam Bondi is doing a GREAT job as attorney general of the United States. She’s veritably careful, veritably smart, loves our country, but needs a tough prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia, like my recommendation, Lindsey Halligan, to get effects moving, ” Trump wrote on Truth Social, publicising his pick.
The move came after a fiery online post in which Trump demanded Bondi appoint Halligan his special adjunct and a former beauty queen to replace Erik Siebert. Siebert, a former police officer and seasoned prosecutor, abnegated after chancing no grounds to make New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Before Trump’s advertisement, Mary “ Maggie ” Cleary, a Justice Department counsel who has claimed President Joe Biden’s administration targeted her for being conservative, told associates she had been suddenly informed she’d get the job, according to an dispatch seen by Reuters.
According to two people familiar with the matter, Trump officers had preliminarily told Siebert that the chairman was frustrated his office had n’t brought felonious mortgage fraud charges against James. Siebert’s office is also involved in an disquisition targeting former FBI director James Comey, another longtime Trump critic. That inquiry stems from the office’s 2016 disquisition into Trump’s presidential crusade.
Siebert had said he did n’t believe the substantiation against either James or Comey was strong enough to justify charges, the sources told Reuters.
