Jolie’s recent comments and property decisions have fuelled speculation that the actress may relocate abroad once her children reach adulthood
Angelina Jolie may be preparing to leave the United States, with recent remarks and real estate moves fuelling speculation that the Hollywood star plans to relocate abroad in the near future.
The 50-year-old actress is reportedly considering selling her historic Los Angeles mansion, which she purchased in 2017 for $24.5 million. The property, originally bought in 1916 by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, came into focus in August 2025 after reports suggested Jolie was preparing to place it on the market.
According to sources at the time, Jolie had been exploring options outside the US and had “never wanted to live in LA,” but stayed due to custody arrangements with her former husband, Brad Pitt.
Jolie and Pitt share six children: Maddox, 23; Pax, 20; Zahara, 19; Shiloh, 18; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17. The former couple separated in 2016 and finalised their divorce settlement in December 2024, concluding an eight-year legal battle.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in August 2024, Jolie openly discussed her plans once her children reach adulthood.
“I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she said.
She added that privacy and safety were key concerns for her family, noting that while Los Angeles has been home during her children’s upbringing, it no longer aligns with what she wants long term.
Jolie also revealed plans to spend significant time in Cambodia, a country she has frequently described as being close to her heart.
“I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world,” she said.
The actress reportedly owns property in Cambodia, including land set aside as a wildlife reserve.
Alongside relocation speculation, Jolie has recently faced rumours regarding her finances. These have been linked to the sale of her New York apartment, ongoing legal disputes with Pitt over the Miraval wine estate, and trademark-related issues surrounding her fashion and lifestyle brand, Atelier Jolie.
While Jolie remains based in Los Angeles for now, her comments suggest a major move could be on the horizon once her youngest children come of age.
