If you like watching short videos on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, this habit can be harmful to the brain.
This claim has come to light in a new study.
The study, published in the journal NeuroImage, found that people who are fond of watching short videos experience various brain changes.
The study found that addiction to these short videos causes changes in brain regions related to action guidance and monetary sensitivity.
According to the study, addiction to short videos is actually like drug use or gambling, in which people prefer immediate gratification or reward over long-term consequences.
The researchers warned that aimless screen scrolling and watching short video content causes such brain changes in people that cause them to make decisions without thinking.
They said that the ability to assess risks of such people is reduced.
They said that addiction to watching short videos is a global health threat and in China alone, people spend an average of 151 minutes a day watching such videos, with 95.5 percent of Internet users liking to watch these videos.
According to researchers, this not only has negative effects on concentration, sleep and mental health, but also increases the risk of depression.
