Excessive use of artificial light in the room before going to bed at night, such as mobile phones, laptops and other such factors, can lead to heart disease. This has been revealed in a study conducted in Australia. This study has also been confirmed by cardiologists and has been declared scientifically correct. According to experts, there is a natural system in the human body, which regulates sleep, heart rate, blood pressure and other physical functions. When we spend time in the light of a mobile phone, TV or bright bulb at night, this system is affected. Which creates disorder in the physical system. The public should use soft and dim light in the room at bedtime and stay away from the screen at least an hour before going to bed.
A study conducted at the Flinders Health Medical Research Institute in Australia has revealed that spending too much time in front of artificial light at night can have a negative effect on heart health and increases the risk of various heart diseases. According to the study, living in a bright environment at night can increase the chances of coronary artery disease, heart attack, irregular heartbeat and stroke.
According to the study, this damage is not only due to lack of sleep, but also due to the direct effect of light. Even when other factors such as short sleep duration, eating habits, exercise, smoking or weight were taken into account, the effect of light on affecting heart diseases was significant in all of them. The study also found that women were at higher risk of heart disease and heart failure, while young people were more likely to have irregular heartbeat.
Regarding this study, “Ummat” also contacted cardiologists in Karachi and asked whether such cases are coming to Karachi or not. Also, what are the ways to prevent it? In this regard, Professor Dr. Nawaz Lashari, Chairman of the Cardiology Department of Civil Hospital, said that it is proven that excessive use of artificial light at night, usually before going to bed, has effects on the eyes and brain, including the heart. Because the human body has a natural system that keeps the heart rate, sleep, blood pressure, etc. in good order. But when artificial light is used before going to bed at night, this system is affected and heart diseases arise. We are also reporting such cases in Karachi.
While taking the patient’s history, it was learned that most heart patients use mobile phones and artificial light more at night. He said that the first thing is that the human body is running like a complete cycle. Every person wakes up and sleeps according to a routine. Some sleep with the light on and some close their eyes completely. If a person’s routine and natural system change, the cycle starts to deteriorate and from there health problems arise. This is absolutely true and scientifically proven that excessive use of artificial light at night affects the eyes and dark circles form under the eyes. Headaches and brain damage start.
Sleep is also affected due to this light. The result of all these matters is that a person’s health starts to be affected and then eventually heart diseases arise. According to Dr. Nawaz Lashari, “Allah Almighty has created the night for sleeping and this is the power of Allah. Everyone must have experienced this himself that he sleeps on time at night and wakes up on time. But if for some reason he cannot sleep at night, then despite sleeping during the day, his health remains heavy and sluggish. Because his physical system is affected. After the body is affected, it gradually starts to incline towards sugar and blood pressure and this causes heart diseases.”
According to the assistant professor of the National Institute of Cardiology, there is a natural system in the human body. Which regulates sleep, heart rate, blood pressure and other physical functions. When we spend time at night in the light of mobile, TV or bright bulbs, this system is affected. Which creates disorder in the physical system. To a question, he said, “The easiest and most effective way to prevent this is to limit the use of mobile phones, TVs, and bright lights at night.”
