A statement from the Pakistani Foreign Office in Islamabad said that this facility is a major step towards resolving the long-standing problems of more than 1.6 million Pakistanis living in the UK.
The federal government has launched digital land record and passport processing services for Pakistanis living in the UK.
The move was introduced by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar at the Pakistan High Commission in London on Monday.
“This facility is a major step towards resolving the long-standing problems of more than 1.6 million Pakistanis living in the UK, who play an important role in money transfer, business and cultural relations but face difficulties in buying and selling, transferring and resolving disputes in Pakistan,” a statement from the Pakistan Foreign Office in Islamabad said.
According to the Foreign Office statement, through the ‘Land Record Service’, Pakistanis living in the UK will be able to access the records of their properties in Punjab.
The platform will provide services such as online sale deeds, person or record of rights, e-girdawari, transfer and document verification. All records have been secured through blockchain technology to ensure transparency and prevent counterfeiting.
Initially, a Land Services Desk has been set up at the Pakistan High Commission in London, while in the future this facility will also be extended to other Pakistani consulates in the UK.
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has launched a ‘One Window Passport Processing System’, under which all the steps of passport application will be completed at a single counter.
According to the Foreign Office, this system will reduce the processing time to about 10 minutes per application, which will facilitate, transparency and crowd reduction for Pakistanis living in the UK.
Ishaq Dar described these measures as a “digital leap towards protecting the rights of overseas Pakistanis and promoting investment”.
During the visit, Ishaq Dar also met British Minister of State for the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan Mush Faulkner.
According to the Foreign Office, the two leaders discussed political, economic, environmental and people-to-people relations and pledged to further enhance cooperation.
According to the statement, the UK is Pakistan’s major development partner, including education, health, environmental resilience, governance reforms and trade.
The deputy prime minister also met British parliamentarians of Pakistani origin, including Muhammad Yasin, Tahir Ali, Imran Hussain, Ayub Khan and Adnan Hussain. On the occasion, he highlighted the historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and the UNITED Kingdom and called for enhancing relations at the parliamentary level.
Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan wants to improve relations and promote trade relations with all countries of the world, including the United Kingdom and the United States.
In an interview to PTV, Ishaq Dar said that his recent visit to the UK has been very fruitful and positive. According to him, bilateral and regional issues, including matters related to Afghanistan and Iran, were discussed in the meeting with the British Minister of State in London.
He said that during his three-day visit, he is meeting with the British leadership and will also meet commonwealth secretary general and Deputy Prime Minister of britain Angela Renner on Tuesday, in which bilateral trade and economy as well as regional issues will be discussed.
According to Dar, Pakistan is trying to increase bilateral trade with the UK from the current level of $ 4 billion.
Responding to a question, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the European Union has lifted the ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and flights to the UK, especially Manchester, will resume in early September.
Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan passed a resolution on peaceful resolution of disputes while presiding over the UN Security Council. According to him, this statement has been officially approved and released on the UNITED NATIONS website.
He added that Pakistan also chaired a meeting on the promotion of partnership between the OIC and the United Nations, while at the request of France and Saudi Arabia, presented a strong position in the international conference on Gaza. Pakistan called for an end to the war in Gaza, uninterrupted delivery of aid and reconstruction.
Referring to his meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Dar said Pakistan wanted to further improve relations with the US. According to him, the United States played an important role in the ceasefire between Pakistan and India in May this year.
He said that on May 10, the US Secretary of State informed him that India wanted a ceasefire, after which Pakistan also agreed to it. According to Dar, in June, Pakistan nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to stop the war between Pakistan and India.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi should admit that Pakistan has defeated India in the recent conflict, but he is making political statements to hide his embarrassment.
He added that the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom played an important role in preventing this conflict.
Ishaq Dar said that his meeting with the Pakistani community was canceled due to the massive loss of lives in the recent floods.
He said That Pakistan has achieved great achievements on the military and diplomatic front and appreciated the role of Pakistani diplomats and media in this regard.
