Bollywood legend Govinda’s marriage is on the rocks after nearly four decades. His wife, Sunita Ahuja, has filed for divorce, accusing the star of cheating, neglect, and betrayal.
According to Indian media, Sunita filed her petition at the Bandra Family Court under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. She claims Govinda had extramarital affairs and failed to respect their marriage.
Court documents reveal the case was filed back in December 2024. Govinda was summoned on May 25 but has skipped every hearing since then, while Sunita continues to appear. Despite repeated notices, he hasn’t attended court sessions or counseling. Judges have been trying to settle the matter since June, but Govinda’s absence has left it hanging.
Sunita recently broke her silence in a teary video on her YouTube channel. “I always prayed to Goddess Kali for a happy marriage, and she blessed me with Govinda and two beautiful children. Whoever tries to break my home will face the goddess’s punishment. It’s wrong to hurt a good man and a good woman,” she said.
Rumors of a split first made headlines in February, when Sunita dropped “Ahuja” from her name on social media and revealed the couple had been living apart for years. At the time, both denied divorce rumors, but the court filings now show the marriage may be truly over.
Insiders say Govinda’s growing closeness with a 30-year-old Marathi actress may have triggered the breakup. Their lawyer had earlier admitted that the couple filed for divorce six months ago but claimed they were trying to work things out.
Govinda himself has stayed completely silent, leaving fans desperate to hear his side of the story.
If the split goes through, it could spell the end of one of Bollywood’s most iconic marriages a couple once hailed as the “perfect match.”
