Apple is once again set to explode the world of technology, this time with a foldable iPhone that will not only be the first of its kind but also likely to be the most expensive and most powerful phone in the company’s history.
According to new leaks, this foldable iPhone could be unveiled in the second half of 2026, and will likely be introduced in September along with the iPhone 18 series. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has confirmed this.
Interestingly, this foldable phone is expected to include a large battery of 5000 to 5500 mAh, which will be the largest battery given in any iPhone so far. It should be noted that the current iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 4685 mAh battery.
But this power will not be available for free. The phone is expected to start at 15,000 yuan (about $2,090) in China, which could increase even more due to various taxes and import fees around the world. This could make it Apple’s most expensive iPhone ever.
The phone will be book-style folding in terms of design, meaning you’ll be able to open and close it like a book. The display size could range from 7.9 to 8.3 inches, made possible by a new flexible OLED panel — a panel that won’t deform even after being folded thousands of times.
The phone will have an in-display camera and will also feature a new, more powerful processor that will take it to new heights in speed and performance.
It’s also worth noting that Apple always waits for new technology to mature and improve before adopting it. That’s why, despite being a late entrant into foldable technology, Apple’s move seems very solid and well-thought-out.
So will 2026 be Apple’s new breakthrough year? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: the wait times are no longer long.
