Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that he is ready to give a strong response to any new military attack, Tehran can deal a much bigger blow to its opponents than what was done during the 12-day Iran-Israel war.

According to a report by the international news agency Reuters, Ayatollah Khamenei said in his statement broadcast on state TV that “the fact that our nation is ready to face the power of the United States and its pet Zionist government (Israel) is very commendable.”

It should be noted that last month, Israel and the United States attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities. They said that these attacks were carried out to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, while Tehran maintains that its nuclear program is entirely for civilian purposes.

Ayatollah Khamenei, referring to the Iranian missile attack on the US military base in Qatar during the war last month, said that “the base that Iran targeted was a very sensitive US center in the region, and an even bigger attack could be launched on the US and others.”

The US and three major European countries are urging Iran to resume nuclear talks, and they have set a deadline of the end of August for a deal.

If there is no progress by then, the French foreign minister has warned that global sanctions could be reimposed on Iran under the UN’s snapback mechanism.

“Whether it is the field of diplomacy or the military, whenever we enter the field, we enter it with full readiness and strength,” Khamenei said.

He instructed diplomats to follow “guidance” and continue their work vigorously, but he did not elaborate.

Iran’s parliament issued a statement on Wednesday saying that Iran should not resume nuclear talks with the United States unless preconditions are met.
