The victim had disappeared after a video of a Muslim passenger being tortured during a flight in India went viral, more details of which have come to light.

According to the viral video, a passenger had a panic attack (severe panic) on a flight from Mumbai to Kolkata, during which he was slapped by another passenger. After this incident, the man went missing, who has now been recovered from the railway station in Barpeta district of Assam.

The victim of the violence, 32-year-old Hussain Ahmed Majumdar, belongs to Assam’s Cachar district, whose headquarters is Silchar. He boarded IndiGo flight 6E-138 from Mumbai to Kolkata on Thursday and was to travel further to Silchar from there the next day.

Hussain suddenly had a panic attack during the flight, on which the air hostesses started helping him. While he was passing through the corridor inside the plane, another passenger slapped him.

In a video that went viral on social media, another passenger can be seen raising his hand at Hussain Ahmed, and when the assailant was questioned, he said that Hussain was “creating a problem for him.”

The assailant was detained and handed over to the police upon reaching Kolkata, but was later released. On the other hand, Hussain Ahmed also left the airport and disappeared without informing anyone.

Hussain, who works at a hotel in Mumbai, has travelled on this route before. Hussain’s family was unaware of the incident and reached Silchar airport on Friday to pick him up, but he did not arrive there. After watching the video, the family tried to contact Hussain, but his phone was also switched off.

According to Hussain’s father Abdul Manan Majumdar, a missing person report was filed for his son. Investigation revealed that he did not board the flight from Kolkata to Silchar on Friday nor did he take any other flight from the airport on Saturday. Later, the police received information that Hussain was at the Barpeta railway station in Assam, from where he was rescued.

According to a police official, Hussain was physically weak and unwell, and is now being brought back home.

On the other hand, IndiGo Airlines, reacting to the incident, has banned the slapping passenger from travelling on all its flights.
