Nvidia is planning to invest up to$ 100 billion in OpenAI as part of a broad new cooperation to power the coming surge of artificial intelligence. The chipmaker blazoned the move on Monday, motioning how far major tech enterprises are willing to go to secure the energy and chips demanded to fuel AI growth.
The two companies inked a letter of intent for what they called a corner strategic deal. It includes planting at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia chips to support OpenAI’s structure. Final details are anticipated in the coming weeks, with the first phase of deployment set to begin in the alternate half of 2026.
“ Everything starts with cipher, ” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in a statement. “ cipher structure will be the base for the frugality of the future, and we will use what we are erecting with Nvidia to both produce new AI improvements and empower people and businesses with them at scale. ”
Shares of Oracle, SoftBank, and Microsoft, all mates in the$ 500 billion Stargaze AI data centre design with OpenAI, rose nearly 5 after the advertisement.
Nvidia’s move follows its$ 5 billion investment in Intel just days before, emphasising its aggressive drive to dominate the global AI chip request.
