The colorful festival of the World Champions of Legends League has begun in the UK, with a team of Pakistani legends defeating host England by 5 runs in the first match after an exciting contest.
In the T20 match played in Birmingham, Pakistan scored 160 runs while batting first for the loss of 9 wickets. Captain Mohammad Hafeez played a brilliant innings of 54 runs for Pakistan, while Amir Yameen stood out by scoring 27 runs.
Liam Plunkett and Chris Tremlett took 2 wickets each for England.
In pursuit of the target, the opposing team’s batters faced difficulty in front of the measured bowling of Pakistani bowlers, the English batsmen lost courage at 155 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
For England, Phil Mustard and Anne Bell’s fifties went by the wayside. Phil Mustard fell victim to Sohail Tanvir after scoring 54 runs, while Anne Bell remained not out after scoring 51 runs.
For Pakistan, Rumman Raees, Sohail Tanvir and Aamir Yameen managed to take one wicket each.
The team consisting of Pakistani legends is led by Mohammad Hafeez, former captain Shahid Afridi, Fawad Alam, Kamran Akmal, Imad Wasim are in the national squad.
Former captain Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz and Asif Ali are part of the squad, Aamir Yameen, Umar Amin, Rumman Raees, Sharjeel Khan and Sohail Khan are also in the national team.
After winning the first match, Pakistan will take on arch-rivals India at Edgbaston on July 20. The national team is scheduled to face South Africa on July 25, the West Indies on July 26 and Australia on July 29.
Hosts England, Pakistan, India, South Africa, West Indies and Australia will be in action in the second season of the World Champions of Legends League.
