Saudi Arabia also issued a statement on France’s decision to recognize Palestine. The Foreign Ministry said that France’s announcement is welcome, and it appreciates efforts to implement international laws and resolutions.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced the recognition of an independent Palestinian state. He indicated that he would make the formal announcement in his address to the United Nations General Assembly in September.

In his message on X, Macron said that the war in Gaza needs to stop immediately so that civilians can be rescued. Peace is certainly possible. We need to immediately implement a ceasefire, release hostages and start providing large-scale aid.

Saudi Arabia has welcomed the French decision to recognize Palestine. The Foreign Ministry said in its statement that Saudi Arabia welcomes the decision of French President Macron, and France’s decision to recognize the Palestinian state is welcome.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry spokesman said that they appreciate the efforts to implement international laws and resolutions. The independent Palestinian state should consist of the pre-1967 borders. All countries that do not yet recognize Palestine should also take this positive step.

On the other hand, the United States rejected France’s decision. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States rejects President Macron’s plan to recognize Palestine in the General Assembly. Macron’s irresponsible decision will benefit Hamas. This is a slap in the face of the victims of October 7.
