Washington: US President Donald Trump has given Russia a new deadline to end its war with Ukraine.
He said the Moscow government now has only until August 8, otherwise the US will impose additional tariffs and economic sanctions on Russia.
President Trump had initially given Russia 50 days on July 14 to take steps towards a ceasefire, but he has now changed the deadline and set the final date of August 8.
He warned that if Russia does not show seriousness, the US will take tough decisions on the trade level, including increasing tariffs.
On the other hand, the US representative to the UN Security Council said in his address that Russia and Ukraine should immediately hold talks for a ceasefire and lasting peace. He said that the US is also ready to take additional steps to establish peace.
